Vaikom is a serene lakeside gem on the edge of Vembanad Lake, where spiritual heritage meets the tranquility of backwaters. Revered for the historic Vaikom Sree Mahadeva Temple and its key role in the Vaikom Satyagraha, it also serves as the “Gateway to the Backwaters” of Kerala, blending deep tradition with natural beauty. The current Chairperson of Vaikom Municipality is Renuka Ratheesh. There are 26 wards in Vaikom Municipality. The 26th ward is Sreenarayanapuram Ward.
