Political Representation

Recent Development Initiatives

The Vattiyoorkavu Junction and Road Development Project — a ₹385 crore intervention — targets widening the Sasthamangalam –Vattiyoorkavu–Peroorkada corridor (10.75 km) into a four-lane 18.5 m carriageway, easing chronic traffic instabilities. Compensation and land acquisition for over 570 commercial establishments have been completed; demolition is underway and tenders are expected in mid-2025, with construction starting by September 2025.

The District Development Committee, chaired by the District Collector, reviewed local priority areas including the Vattiyoorkavu market lift-up, street vendor relocation, better street lighting, and formation of a metropolitan planning body. The MLA emphasized creating a proper vending zone and enhancing public safety.

Challenges remain in rebuilding the Vattiyoorkavu Government LP School, delayed by administrative inertia despite approved land relocation. Officials are pressing for immediate progress in reconstruction.
