 
					 
						Mukundapuram Taluk is one of the prominent taluks in Thrissur district, Kerala, and was historically one of the largest in the region. In 2013, a major portion of it was carved out to form the new Chalakudy Taluk. Despite this division, Mukundapuram remains significant in size and administration, with its headquarters at Irinjalakuda. The taluk consists of numerous villages including Aloor, Amballur, Edathirinji, Irinjalakuda, Kaduppassery, Karalam, Kattur, Kottanellur, Madayikonam, Manavalassery, Muriyad, Nellayi, Padiyur, Parappukkara, Poomangalam, Porathissery, Pullur, Puthenchira, Thanissery, Thrikkur, Thrissur (Part), Thottippal, Vadakkekad, and Velukkara, among others. It covers a mix of rural and semi-urban areas, with a strong cultural and historical identity tied to the Christian and Hindu traditions of central Kerala.
