Karunagappally Taluk is a coastal taluk in Kollam district, Kerala, known for its backwaters, beaches, and high population density. It comprises 12 villages and several prominent towns, including Karunagappally (the taluk headquarters), Chavara, Oachira, and Thevalakkara. The taluk spans an area of about 255 square kilometers and had a population of approximately 787,000 as per the 2011 Census. With a strong presence in fishing, coir production, and trade, Karunagappally is a key economic and cultural hub in southern Kerala.
