Department of Legal Metrology (Formerly known as Department of Weights and Measures) is empowered to certify the accuracy of weights, measures, weighing and measuring instruments used for transaction and protection to safeguard the interest of consumers. This is done by enforcement of various provisions of Legal Metrology Act 2009 and Rules made there under including Packaged Commodities Rules.
