The Directorate of Technical Education handles all technical education activities in the state. At present, there are 12 engineering colleges (9 Govt. colleges and 3 Govt. aided colleges), 52 polytechnic colleges (46 Govt. polytechnics and 6 Govt. aided polytechnics), 3 fine arts colleges, 39 technical high schools and 17 commercial institutes. Tailoring and garment manufacturing centers are functioning all over the state and are under the control of the Directorate. In addition, this headquarters also handles the educational regulations of about 150 engineering colleges in the government sector and the private sector.
