The Department of Agriculture was established on May 27, 1908 in the state of Travancore. More than 50 per cent of the state's population depends on agriculture for their livelihood. The main aim of the Agriculture Department is to formulate and implement many schemes that are capable of making a holistic headway in the agriculture sector of Kerala.
