Chirayinkeezhu Taluk is one of six taluks in the Thiruvananthapuram Revenue District, along with Thiruvananthapuram, Neyyattinkara, Nedumangad, Varkala, and Kattakkada. It includes several panchayats and towns such as Attingal Municipality, and comprises 19 villages.
The villages in this taluk are: Alamcode (Alamkodu), Anjuthengu, Attingal–Avanavancheri, Azhoor, Edakodu, Mudakkal, Elamba, Kadakkavoor, Karavaram, Keezhattingal, Kilimanoor, Kizhuvilam–Koonthalloor, Nagaroor, Pazhayakunnummel, Pulimathu, Sarkara–Chirayinkeezhu, Vakkom, and Vellalloor.
The taluk plays an important role as an administrative and trade hub in the northern part of the district, with historical and cultural significance.
