Chavakkad Taluk, located along the coastal belt of Thrissur district in Kerala, is known for its rich cultural heritage, fishing communities, and agricultural landscape. As per the 2011 Census, it had a total population of around 4.7 lakh, with approximately 1.24 lakh residing in rural areas. The taluk consists of seven officially recognized villages: Annakara, Engandiyur, Irimbranallur, Kadappuram, Kundazhiyur, Nattika, and Valappad. Among these, Valappad is the most populous, followed by Engandiyur and Kadappuram. The villages contribute significantly to the taluk’s economy through coastal fisheries, coconut farming, and small-scale industries, while the urban areas reflect Chavakkad’s growing commercial and educational importance.
