Kodungallur Taluk, located in the southern part of Thrissur district, Kerala, is a region steeped in history, known for its association with the ancient port city of Muziris. It covers an area of about 145 square kilometers and includes both urban and rural areas. The taluk consists of three officially recognized villages: **Azhikode**, **Koolimuttam**, and **Padinjare Vemballur**. These villages form the rural part of Kodungallur, while the taluk also includes several densely populated towns and semi-urban areas. Azhikode is the largest among the villages in terms of both population and area.
