Kattakkada Taluk is one of six taluks in the Thiruvananthapuram Revenue District, along with Thiruvananthapuram, Neyyattinkara, Nedumangad, Chirayinkeezhu, and Varkala. It comprises 11 villages.
The villages in this taluk are: Kattakkada, Veeranakavu, Amboori (also listed under nearby taluks but administratively included here), Kallikkad, Keezharoor, Kulathummal, Malayinkeezhu, Maranalloor, Ottasekharamangalam, Vazhichal, Vilappil, and Vilavoorkkal.
The taluk serves as a key agricultural and administrative center in the eastern part of the district.
